Celebrations of Blooms is a group art show all about flowers! In excited anticipation of our new Pick-Your-Own Tulip Garden, this art show revels in the beauty of blooms and the joy they bring every spring.
Celebrations of Blooms features floral paintings by Barbara Panico, Deborah Leonard, Laura Eden and Catherine Elliot. To learn more about our Pick-Your-Own Tulip Garden in collaboration with our neighbor Blooms of Lost Acres, visit www.bloomsoflostacres.com. |
Barbara Panico says her soul is fed most when sunlight and shadow suddenly combine in a way that makes her pause and think, "I need to paint that!" Color, light and shadow have been captured by artists for centuries and she feel blessed to be able to share her way of seeing the world. Barbara paints a variety of subjects in oil, acrylic on canvas and occassionaly soft pastels. She likes to capture life-like images of landscapes and life by the sea. The brilliant colors of nature inspire her to paint every day and share the beauty of what she sees. She particularly loves when she hear viewers of her work make a personal connection with a painting of a favorite spot or memory.
Deborah Leonard is a lover of nature, through observation and academic study, which has a strong influence on her painting. She finds enjoyment, interest, and beauty in her surroundings. In the more traditional pieces, atmospheric conditions and varied brush strokes are used to express the subject matter. She often prefers to emphasize the simple elegance of a single tree or a forgotten barn. Her work captures the light and mood of the soft meadows or misty ocean for a particular day, turning her canvas into a diary. Using acrylics as her medium, she enjoys plein air painting as well as studio work.
Laura J. Eden has been passionate about her art since childhood. After being a full time watercolorist for 22 years Laura switched mediums to egg tempera in 2002. Her intimate, detailed view of nature lends itself perfectly to this medium. Laura says of her work “My paintings are meant to trigger daydreams. They are a response to quiet moments spent in nature’s grasp. Recalling a familiar feeling of place, they at the same time, show the viewer a more intimate, exaggerated perspective. Through my work I try to evoke a refreshing response to the commonplace.”
Catherine M. Elliott currently has a studio/gallery in Simsbury, Connecticut. For over 30 years she’s painted in the Impressionist style and has been plein air painting since high school. Her work as a contemporary artist is evocative of the American Impressionistic style of painting. The wonder of these works are in its fresh liberation of color and light offering the viewer a sense of awe and peace. The paintings explore atmospheric conditions capturing a moment in time and place invoking the viewer to intimately see the sublime.
