August 22 through September 14 Artists Opening August 22 from 5:30 to 8pm
John Krifka has been an artist for nearly 40 years,
having split his time between painting and architecture, Western Massachusetts
and New York City. He likes to think his work is the combined action and joy of
moving paint and form somewhat abstractly, while also considerably consciously.
“It’s important to see character developing on a surface, from both happy and
certain accidents, that can easily help to excite the composition. As the
imagery of a subject takes shape, the manipulation of brushstrokes, lack of
brushstrokes, facility of hand, back of brush – any other purposeful creative
mannerism - can cause abstract applications, simply and effectively, to take on
a distinctive illusion of reality. I always will try to emphasize this
painterly process in order to bring vitality and richness to my art”.
