About the Artist
Photographer Christopher Fisher has been photographing the world around him for more than 50years. He and his wife Diane have traveled extensively in the United States as well as countries in Europe, Central America, South America and Africa. Chris spent 30 years teaching high school physics in Bloomfield and during that time also spent 15 years doing wedding photography. For more than 40 years he was an active member of the Simsbury Camera Club serving as editor of the newsletter, membership chair, judge and commentator. Chris enjoys capturing artistic images and then creating prints that share his vision of the beauty to be found in the colors, patterns, textures, grand scenes and small details of our world. These days, Chris is experimenting with creating larger prints and building his own frames for them. Because he works to present images as our eyes see them, using a wide dynamic range, people often ask if his photographs are paintings. He also likes to present his work on matte paper and without glass, which allows the sharponess and detail to stand out. Several of the newer prints incorporate his idea of creating more natural looking wide angle scenes by stiching together a series of 50mm images which duplicates our eye's visual perception of the world. In addition to creating print exhibitions like this one, he also enjoys presenting audio-visual programs. Here is a list of programs which are available. "Birding 101" • "Longwood Gardens Through the Seasons" • "Images From Southern Africa" "Birding Costa Rica" • "Journey to the Edge of the Earth - The Galapagos Islands" "Northern Exposures - Springtime in Canada" •" Birding the Mayan Ruins of the Yucatan"
