About the Artist
Joanne Vallee Brunelle earned her BFA in Painting from the University of Connecticut and has exhibited her work regularly throughout New England. After a career in retail art and framing she now devotes her time to art making. She recently completed a residency at Walkaway House in North Adams MA and was included in a show at Five Points Gallery in Torrington, CT. When not making art, she can be found curating her vintage resale business, Found in the Wild Vintage.
My paintings and mixed media work seek to investigate those moments that at first may seem unremarkable but steadily reveal a vibration of awe, wonder or familiarity. Some of the work begins with long observations in nature over time and are a synthesis of visual perception and at other times are inspired by the raw materials at hand. In this exhibition I have included works that are experimental in execution by mixing oil and acrylic, plaster and cold wax along with traditional mediums. I favor materials that are found in the wild, thrifted or trashed, and incorporate these elements in ways they were never intended.
