Podunk Throwbacks
The Podunk Throwbacks take you back to a time when honesty, raw emotion and free thought prevailed. Their songs capture the human condition in a down-to-earth, gritty and honest way, and don’t just describe an emotion, but make you feel it - be it the soulful reflections of one's "deepest regrets," a country-style rally to farmers to "hold your ground," a jazz-inspired rock retort to one's "jealousy of hope," a traditional folk description of a humble "wrong side of life" or a lyrical declaration of a love's "single intention." The symbiotic relationship between the driving percussion of the guitar and the classical sophistication of the violin, combined with the depth and creativity of the rhythm section, compliment these visions with a unique sound and no costumes, "gimmicks" or formulation. They have been performing only their original songs all over CT, MA, NY and RI since 2012, including the Goshen Stampede (Goshen, CT), the Vintage Bazaar (Salisbury, MA), the National Arts Project (Capital College, Hartford, CT), and the Rhode Island Songwriters Association (Providence, RI). |
